I'm not sure how reliable this source is, so I may be slightly premature with this post. However, I read a news article on latinoreview today detailing a potential script for the new beverly hills cop movie written by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. If this has any credibility, please use your influence to ensure some significant changes are made! When i heard (after some speculation) that you were planning on making this an R rated movie, I became excited after so many films these days seem to be selling out to the PG-13 rating. The biggest sell out for me was Die Hard 4.0 and i'm glad, given the similarities (80s franchises getting another chance) that this doesn't appear to have fallen into the same trap.
However, after reading today's article i.e. the script content, my excitement levels died down significantly. The biggest mistake is the absence of any of the original cast in a major supporting role. To have any chance of capturing the essence of the original, you need the trio of Foley, Taggart and Rosewood, ideally with Bogenmill in the mix too! Also, Foley's motor mouth antics need to be handled carefully. In number one, these kinda scenes are genius (for example Foley's entry into maitlands members only club, or the scene in the warehouse). In number 2, they are entertaining but sometimes over the top, and in number 3 they are non existent or just without enthusiasm.
Also, please can we have some pointer sisters in the soundtrack! An i hope whatever you do to the Axel F track isn't too far from the original!
Even as an outlandish suggestion, set this film in the 80s! Maybe shortly after Cop II. Understand the cast have significantly aged but couldn't you do some kind of CGI!?!
Regardless of whether the script was genuine, I hope you take on board my comments.
Thanks
Jamie

I am aware most information regarding Beverly Hills Cop IV are rumors, but they are disturbing, and getting them varified would be great.
According to movie news websites, your 4th installment to the franchise is hitting the fan.
From the rumor mill, The current script involves killing off Judge Reinhold's character, Billy Rosewood, in the opening scene. That would be the best way for this movie to lose its entire audience in a heart beat. You have the chance to make people forget about 'Cop III' and make the 'Cop' movie everyone wants to see. But killing Rosewood off is the worst thing possible. I do understand that you aren't responsible for the screenplay, but you most definatly can put pressure on it to be changed.
Derek Haas and Michael Brandt are good writers, but they seem to be failing, if the rumors of the plot are true. It's also reported that the studio loves the current script and the only person against it is Eddie Murphy. Even Reinold doesn't want his character killed. He WANTS to be Billy again. You don't often have that opportunity to get the same actor back to play a co-star in a sequel with a 15 year gap.
Do a google search, as of right now, this movie has so much hate aimed at it, its disturbing.
The problem is, all you Hollywood bigshots and studios never listen to what the fans want. You can change that.
An indy writer has a better synopsis for this movie than the current one. Maybe you should reconsider him? Remember this guy: http://beverlyhillscopiv.blogspot.com/
Anyway, good luck. You can save a franchise from ending on a sour note.
- A fan.
